F.A.Q.

1. How do I know if you are registered?

I am indeed registered and in good standing with the CMTO. You can look me or any other therapist up here:

2. I am feeling under the weather with a cold, should I still come in for my massage?

It usually isn’t a good idea. It won’t make you feel better and could in fact make you feel worse. The first few days of a cold, fever or infection don’t go well with massage at all and can be unsafe. A headache or migraine on the other hand could benefit from a treatment. Just give me a call and we can figure out if massage is appropriate.

3. What the heck is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral is a very gentle, light touch approach that releases tension in the central nervous system so that every other system in the body can relax, self correct and free itself from pain and discomfort.

Craniosacral is used to detect and correct imbalances in the craniosacral system, which may be the cause of sensory, motor or neurological dysfunction. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth - which make up the cranium - down to the sacrum or tailbone area. CST can be performed with the client fully clothed laying comfortably on a massage table or the techniques can be incorporated into a traditional massage. The treatment appears very passive, however, the effects can be powerful and quite profound. CST is safe for all ages and can be an effective treatment for conditions such as:

  • Migraines
  • Chronic pain and fatigue
  • Stress and tension
  • Depression
  • Sports injuries
  • Colic
  • Learning disabilities and autism
  • Insomnia
  • Hyperactivity
  • TMJ dysfunction
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Scoliosis
  • Emotional difficulties
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Sinusitis
  • Tinnitus

4. Do we have to talk during the massage session?

Nope. There are a few things I will have to ask or instruct you on in order to keep you safe, beyond that, zone out, sleep, snore, whatever!

5. I can’t lay on my front due to a medical condition or injury, can I still have a massage?

Absolutely. I can treat you in sidelying position, face up, even seated.

6. What kind of massage oil do you use and can I bring my own?

I use a massage gel actually which it is great for very sensitive skin and is odourless. You can bring in your own if you like and I am happy to use it as long as my skin can tolerate it and the odour is mild. I know CBD oils and creams are now legal, however, I am not permitted to use these products on clients at this time.

7. What if I have to use the bathroom during my treatment?

This is no problem at all. I will provide you with a clean robe and leave the room while you use the washroom which is adjacent to the massage table.

8. Do I have to be fully naked during the massage?

You will undress to your level of comfort and be covered up at all times except for the areas in which I am working. I do a fair amount of work through the sheets as draping isn’t always necessary.
